One of my favourite pieces of kit is the 50mm lens.

I have used this lens shooting landscapes and portraits.

The beauty of shooting with this lens on a full frame camera is that it will give you a similar perspective to what the human eye can see in its field of vision.

Nikon, 50mm f1.8

This lens is incredibly light and small. It is easy to carry around giving you a simple compact setup so you shoot landscape or portrait whereever you are.

These lens are also quite inexpensive and can range in price between £150-300 on a full frame format.

Sony, 50mm f1.8

With a very low aperture you’ll be able to shoot for longer. You’ll capture some stunning portraits in low light conditions without compromising on the quality of the shot. Whether you are out in the evening or morning you’ll capture some buttery images or pin sharp images depending on your settings.

Overall, I love this lens because of it’s versatility and ease to use. Most importantly, it will force you to move and get in to new angles to take your shot. If you are fixed on your zoom lens but want to improve your photography then this lens is so for you.
